Just Fuck Off

Signs of the decline of western civilization #537: the existence of this album. Quite apart from the title being a contradiction in terms; leaving aside the monumental laziness of the concept and indeed the track selection; ignoring for the moment the horrible stench of lowest common denominator marketing hanging over the thing like a toxic fug, there’s this: I actually know people who will buy it. And that in itself is cause for utter, utter despair.

Biblical

Blimey. Poor old Tewkesbury. Stopped there once after the Big Chill. Now look at the place.

The Big B, The Boz-Meister, The B-Man

It’s time to take a stand, to lay cards on the table, to stop flip-flopping and shilly-shallying about. Upon careful consideration, Off Message hereby endorses Boris Johnson, MP for Henley, as its preferred candidate for Mayor of London. Yes, he’s a Tory. Yes, he’s a toff. But here’s the thing: at least he’s unlikely to cosy up to Hugo fucking Chavez or the Muslim Brotherhood, or liken a Jewish reporter to a Nazi concentration camp guard.

Let the cry ring out: Boris for Mayor!

Monsoon

The heavens have opened and the streets are running like rivers.

On the plus side, my headache has gone, so it’s not all bad news.

Texas Chainsaw Massacre (on a Stick)

There’s a man over the road cutting back a tree with a chainsaw on the end of a long pole. What a fantastic murder weapon that would make for in a movie. I demand that Texas Chainsaw Massacre (on a Stick) be made RIGHT NOW.

The world

is a glowering grey today, a menacing mass of cloud squatting over London with murder in mind. Death by downpour threatens, and for the past three days a pressure system has been building in my head, squeezing my brain like a vice. Ngh.

Judging by

the comment left yesterday by ‘anonymous’ on a post from a couple of weeks back where I mentioned the fact that a few of my friends had started games of Scrabble with me on Facebook, one of these friends is becoming slightly irritated that I still haven’t taken my turn in whichever of the four games I’ve got on the go is theirs. (Indeed, I haven’t taken my turn in any of the four games for at least two weeks.) It hardly needs to be said, but whoever it is should know me well enough to realise that I’m now even less likely to take my turn, being, as I am, a petty, mildly malicious, awkward and annoying arsehole.

No no. You’re welcome.

Keep on bloggin’

I guess if I want to keep my Google ranking at number one (er, if you type in ‘off message blog’, that is; and, er, also, as if that really matters to anyone in the world other than the kind of foaming fuckbag navel-gazing narcissist who’d be insane enough to waste precious minutes of his rapidly disappearing and fundamentally pointless life obsessing about these things), I’ll have to blog even when I have nothing to blog about. Like, say, right now.

Well, there you go.

I just Googled ‘Off Message Blog’, and shaft me with a He-Man action figure if we aren’t number one in the rankings. I… I don’t know what to say. Except, thank you. Thank you to you all, to everyone who’s taken the time to read Off Message. You’ve… sniff… you’ve made me a very happy French monarch. Excuse me, I think I have something in my eye.
